What would
you like to do for your community?
Is there
something you'd like to change?
Something
you want to make better?
What's your
vision for the future of Texas? Healthy cities, comfortable communities,
decent wages, a good economy, adequate housing and health care,
clean water and air, skilled workers and profitable businesses,
good community leaders, strong families, and responsible, caring
kids?
These good
things don't just happen. It takes people like you, coming together
to look closely at your community and to plan for the future. It
takes people working together to make your vision a reality.

How does
it work?
Beginning
in January 2004, the Futures Forum will bring together people from
all areas of your community. Together they will study your community,
discuss its needs, identify the most important ones, and plan for
ways to address them.
The Futures
Forum also provides part of the plan for the work Extension will
do in your county over the next five years. The information gathered
is being shared with other agencies and organizations, too.
The Futures
Forum will help you and your neighbos make sure the work of your
state and local agencies is focused on your needs, the things that
really matter to you and your community.
A little
background on the Texas Community Futures Forum
The Futures
Forum is a planning process facilitated by Texas Cooperative Extension,
bringing together partners in county government, state agencies,
organizations, businesses, and other groups.
It begins
with county forums to gather information on local needs. From these
needs and priorities, Extension, partner groups, and local residents
will work together and individually to make progress towards community
goals.
