What is the issue/problem?

There is a continual division of large forest acres into smaller tracts. Many of these small tracts are often deforested and developed for urban purposes. This negatively impacts water quality, forest production, and wildlife.


Problem size and scope? (How many people does it affect? How wide spread?)

Large - 22 million acres of forest in 43 counties in East Texas


Problem severity? (How serious is this issue?)              High

Description:    Resulting forest remnants will be too small to provide sustainable products (water, fiber, and recreation).
